Plan a trip somewhere but nowhere at all- I think that makes sense!? Plan the first few days of the fall around a spontaneous beach trip and THEN do what you feel in the moment. No planning needed.
One of my girlfriends goes to Cape May almost every summer and offered a few recommendations we ventured to.
Kohrs Soft Serve was a great destination for the simplicity of soft serve. You get a couple options and chocolate or rainbow sprinkles to choose from. Easy, delicious, gargantuan! I really REALLY wanted to eat the entire cone but I had to abstain, sadly. I needed room for dinner. But, all to say this spot hits soft serve right.
Quincy Lobster Rolls made us so happy in our beachside rocking chairs. A spot that wasn’t really? recommended anyone online so I was skeptical. NOPE. We had a good experience. Connecticut style lobster roll- buttered and warm (I always forget the differences- on a brioche roll, crispy crunchy creamy french fries on the side. I’ve been mixing mayo and mustard to dip lately.
West End Garage: oh the vintage tableware! It’s a dream to find little spots like this. All of your favorite bowls, platters, and silverware through the decades. Instead of adding to my collection of pink glass I got a little note card with a water painted pink victorian house on it instead. It’s going on my mood board!
Golden Stop: nothing entices me more than an adorable girlie coffee shop with pink decals, pastry, and sweet vibes. If decaf lattes are an option then I’m even more intrigued. This is a really wonderful spot for anyone who works from home or needs a weekend breather.
Beach Plum: a little farm utopia with free range chickens, pigs, fire pits, egg sandwiches, and a farm store selling produce, pasta, and kitchenware. It’s a lovely spot for a big party or fall chilling.
Jersey Shore Alpacas: Dillon surprised me by pulling up in front of a residential house, playing the “where are we!?” game and alluding to alpacas in the back. WHAT! We fed the alpaca families carrots and bought some yarn in the gift shop. The couple that run it work really hard to keep the space clean and active for anyone that signs up to visit.
