Raf’s French and Italian Bakery

Raf’s

I walked into a dimly lit foyer facing a cute banquet and pastry counter. I marveled at the offerings that were placed in a mid century vintage pastry case. The Italian French inspired eatery would be a great spot to have breakfast or brunch, quietly. Pastry Chef Camari Mick is amplifying the pastry game with hints of her Jamaican roots. They do some incredible collaborations with chefs across the city bridging French pastry with flavors from North Africa, Pakastani, India, Puerto Rican, and more. Some of the items on their online menu consist of classics like canele, croissants, pignoli, and with more intricate offerings like harissa chocolate cake, proscuitto and taleggio croissant, and eggplant caponata danish. I’m thrilled to have discovered this gem.

They had some high brow pastry but took some classic favorites and turned them new… In comes the ricotta chocolate chip cookie! Considering my deep appreciation for Italian culture I thought this was a clever spin on an American classic. I can’t even find this style of cookie with a google search. I’m going to have to develop my own soon!
